Steps to Apply
The steps to apply for a new PAN card online are as follows:
Visit the official website of the Income Tax Department's e-filing portal at .
Click on the "Register Yourself" button and select the appropriate user type from the drop-down menu.
Fill in the basic details such as name, date of birth, email ID, mobile number, etc. and click on "Continue". You will receive an activation link on your email ID and an OTP on your mobile number.
Activate your account by clicking on the link and entering the OTP. You will be redirected to the login page.
Login with your user ID (which is your PAN) and password. You will be asked to update your profile information such as address, contact details, etc.
After updating your profile, go to the "Services" tab and select "Apply for New PAN Card (Form 49A)" from the drop-down menu.
Select the category of applicant, fill in the personal details, contact details, address details, etc. and click on "Submit". You will be redirected to a payment gateway.
Make the payment of Rs. 93 (for Indian citizens) or Rs. 864 (for foreign citizens) using your credit card / debit card / net banking facility. You will receive an acknowledgment number and a confirmation email.
Print the acknowledgment form and affix two recent passport size photographs on it. Sign across the photograph and in the space provided for signature.
Attach the self-attested copies of your proof of identity, proof of address, and proof of date of birth along with the acknowledgment form and send it by post or courier to NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure Limited at: Income Tax PAN Services Unit, NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure Limited, 5th Floor, Mantri Sterling, Plot No. 341, Survey No. 997/8, Model Colony, Near Deep Bungalow Chowk, Pune - 411016 You should mention "APPLICATION FOR PAN - Acknowledgment Number" on the envelope.
You can track the status of your application by visiting and entering your acknowledgment number.
You will receive your PAN card by post within 15-20 days of submitting your application.
